After landing Le’Veon Bell’s backup with his first pick of the fourth round, Jets general manager Joe Douglas kept the offensive backup trend going with New York’s second fourth-round selection.

With the 125th pick, the Jets selected Florida International quarterback James Morgan. In four years, Morgan passed for 8,654 yards, 65 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions. He began his college career at Bowling Green before transferring to Florida International for his final two seasons.

Morgan was one of the best quarterbacks in Conference USA a year ago, giving the Jets a young backup to mold behind Darnold. David Fales is the incumbent backup, but his status in that position is now up in the air.

With a backup quarterback now in the fold, the Jets can turn their attention to addressing other positions of need, such as cornerback, EDGE, and interior offensive line.
