The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a team for the ages heading into 2020, headlined by quarterback Tom Brady and new tight end Rob Gronkowski, who will be joining an already stellar offense featuring both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
The Bucs’ defense also seems to be headed in the right direction, thanks to the re-signing of Ndamukong Suh and Jason Pierre-Paul along with using the franchise tag on last year’s sack leader Shaq Barrett.
But veterans aren’t the only reason to be excited about this defense. The Bucs also have young stars in linebacker Devin White and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting. And, they used their second-round pick in April’s NFL draft to take standout safety Antoine Winfield Jr. out of the University of Minnesota.
With excitement building around this group, it’s no surprise that players want to come play for the Bucs now, and you can add New York Jets safety Jamal Adams to that list now that the he’s requested a trade from the Jets.
Add another team to Jamal Adams’ list of preferred trade destinations: the Buccaneers. He told @Realrclark25 he’d love to play in Tampa Bay, which would reunite him with Todd Bowles.

Any other year, Adams would be a welcome addition to the Bucs’ defense, especially since he’s played for defensive coordinator Todd Bowles before when Bowles was head coach of the Jets. But the Bucs drafted Winfield to be their safety of the future, and Adams is also looking for a big payday, which might not be in the cards for him with the Bucs. Tampa Bay has to take care of Godwin’s contract and still need to try and work out a long-term deal with Barrett.
Still, the fact that a player of Adams’ caliber wants to join the Bucs shows just how far this team has come since Bruce Arians took over.
