The ankle injury that ended his college career prematurely caused Bryce Hall to fall in the draft, but he doesn’t expect it to delay the start of his NFL career.

Hall, taken by the Jets with the 158th pick in the fifth round, had his senior season at Virginia cut short after breaking his fibula and tearing his deltoid ligament. He underwent surgery in October.

Expected to be a high-round pick prior to getting hurt, Hall now believes he will be ready to go for training camp. That, of course, is assuming there is a training camp as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create uncertainty in the sports world.

Either way, Hall told reporters that his left ankle is “healed” and that he’s now working on building up its range of motion and his explosiveness.

Should Hall get back to his old self, the Jets will have gotten a steal in the middle rounds. It’s certainly encouraging that Hall plans on being a full participant in camp, but don’t be shocked if the Jets exercise a little more caution with him.

A four-year starter at Virginia, Hall could soon find himself playing a similar role on the outside in New York. He finished his college career with 154 tackles, four sacks, five interceptions and 38 passes defended in 42 games.
