After being drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, wide receiver Corey Davis had a disappointing career with the Tennessee Titans, one that was marred by drops and overall lackluster production.
The club declined his fifth-year option, and the former Titan stated on Wednesday that Tennessee made no effort to bring him back in free agency.
He signed a three-year contract worth $37.5 million with the New York Jets in the offseason, and Davis will face his old team for the first time on Sunday. You can bet that he’s likely to play with a chip on his shoulder.

The Chicago, Illinois native had just a 61.2 percent catch rate in four seasons with the Titans. His best season came in 2020, when he averaged 70.3 yards per game and amassed 984 receiving yards.
Through the first three weeks of the 2021 season, Davis has 12 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for all of the Jets’ offensive touchdowns this year. But the same problems that ultimately led to the Titans parting ways have plagued him, as the 26-year-old has just a 54.5 percent catch rate on 22 targets.
Davis and the Jets will host the Titans on Sunday, with kickoff set for 12 pm CT.
