Rutgers basketball landed a program-changing commitment on Wednesday afternoon from five-star guard Dylan Harper. The top player in New Jersey, Harper changes the dynamic of the Scarlet Knights, forming an incredible tandem with five-star forward Airious ‘Ace’ Bailey.
He also changes the narrative around the program, completely cementing the vision of head coach Steve Pikiell into Rutgers basketball.
The top player in New Jersey’s 2024 class, Harper is now the highest-ranked player to commit to Rutgers basketball in program history. According to ESPN, Harper is the top guard in the nation and the second-best overall player in his class.
Harper is currently a senior at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey). Last season, he averaged 23.4 points per game. He is a complete guard, who is able to run an offense effectively but also can also score in a variety of ways.
Harper is a strong defender and rebounder in addition to being a dynamic player with the ball in his hands.
He made his decision from a final five that also included Duke, Auburn, Kansas, and Indiana.
