Jayson Tatum debuts Taco Tuesday Air Jordan 34 exclusives vs. Indy

Boston Celtics forward Jayson “Taco Jay” Tatum has some tasty new kicks that match his self-given nickname well.

If the Boston Celtics seemed a little hungrier than they have in recent games as they avoided another late game collapse in their win over the Indiana Pacers, it might just have been Jayson Tatum’s shoes.

The Duke product’s nickname also meshed nicely with the new Air Jordan’s he was wearing for the 114-111 victory Tuesday night. “Taco Jay” — as the Missouri native is sometimes called — donned some brand-new “Taco Tuesday” Air Jordan 34 exclusives for the contest.

Whether or not it actually boosted Tatum’s game, the colorway is certainly evocative of the Tex-Mex dish, with bright oranges, yellows and lettuce-y-looking green trim for good measure.

The angry taco (not to be confused with an angry Tacko, which, at 7-foot-5, would be very frightening) logo on the heel ties it all together.

While perhaps a little too cartoonish for some players to wear, given the budding superstar’s nickname (and love for the food), the kicks seem like a solid match for Tatum’s brand.

Then again, given the tongue is inscribed with the name “Deuce” — Tatum’s nickname for his infant son — maybe we aren’t the audience the shoe is supposed to appeal to in the first place.
