ESPN compiled a list of most exciting player from each team in the top 25, and Jaylen Waddle was named Alabama’s most exciting player to watch this season.
Waddle, who will be a junior this season, has not only been predicted to have a dominate role on Alabama’s offense this season, he’s also someone to look out for in the Heisman race.
In his first two seasons, Waddle has recorded 1,408 receiving yards for 13 touchdowns. But he has also been one of the best punt and kickoff returners in the nation. In just two seasons, he has 36 punt returns for 720 yards and 2 touchdowns. Waddle also has 5 kickoff returns for 175 yards and 1 touchdown.
According to ESPN:
“All due respect to Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and DeVonta Smith, but Waddle was the most dynamic receiver at Alabama last season. The Houston native is a home run waiting to happen, whether that’s catching passes or returning kicks. Rewind the tape to the Iron Bowl and what he did to that stellar Auburn defense. He had four touchdowns and 230 all-purpose yards, including a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. — Alex Scarborough”
There’s no doubt that with Waddle’s more dynamic role on offense, that Alabama has a great chance to make it back to the CFB Playoff this year.
