Jawaan Taylor made his regular season debut with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night and there was no shortage of viewers who felt the offensive tackle deserved a penalty on just about every play. Taylor getting away with several plays that looked like false starts didn’t come as a surprise to Jacksonville Jaguars fans, though.
For years, while Taylor was the Jaguars’ starting right tackle, his quick jump off the line of scrimmage frustrated Jacksonville opponents. It caused the Los Angeles Chargers’ Joey Bosa to have a full-blown meltdown in January.
With Taylor playing Thursday in the NFL’s Kickoff Game, protecting two-time MVP Patrick Mahomes on a Super Bowl-winning team, his play generated quite a lot of attention.
Here’s a sampling of the reactions to Taylor’s performance in Week 1:
Can we PLEASE call the illegal procedure on Jawaan Taylor on every f***ing snap?!?!?!

Tonight’s script; Jawaan Taylor has diplomatic immunity.

Eventually they have to call these false starts on Jawaan Taylor, right??

No one is going to call False Start on #Chiefs Jawaan Taylor? it's pretty blatant..pic.twitter.com/oSbGlo10tq

It's not even just the quick jump by Jawaan Taylor, it's his pulsing.
It's basically 20 false starts every single snap.

Everybody got something to say about Jawaan Taylor jumping out of his stance early but when it’s Lane Johnson they were quiet.

After last night’s game, every team will be on the refs head about Jawaan Taylor lining up in the backfield lol
— Damien Woody (@damienwoody) September 8, 2023
The issue isn't exactly Jawaan Taylor "false starting" every play. By the letter of the law it's actually completely legal to start as early as he is BUT he is starting so far back and THAT is what needs to be called
— Big Game Bengal (@BengalYouTube) September 8, 2023
Jawaan thing is going to become because of Chiefs blah blah blah…he did the same shit his whole career

Taylor was called for seven penalties (three false start, two holding, two ineligible downfield) during the 2022 season, his last with the Jaguars. Earlier this year, he signed a four-year, $80 million contract with the Chiefs and Jacksonville replaced him at right tackle with No. 27 overall pick Anton Harrison.
