Jason Patterson has Rutgers football in his top five: ‘I have the best connection with them’

Rutgers football is trending well with four-star running back Jason Patterson.

Jason Patterson cut down his list of schools on Wednesday, with Rutgers football joining two SEC programs as being in the mix for the Florida four-star running back.

A four-star recruit according to ESPN.com, Patterson had 2,721 rushing yards last season with 35 touchdowns for Sneads High School (Sneads, FL). He also has high end speed, having run a 10.97 time in the 100 meters during spring track.

The schools that made the final five for Patterson are Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Boston College.

The news of Patterson’s final five comes as he is set to begin an official visit on Wednesday at Kentucky.

The timing of the list points to a decision likely coming in the next couple of weeks, with Patterson saying they “are the schools where I can see myself playing at.”

In early June, Patterson took an official visit to Rutgers.

“They have a great coaching staff, I can probably say from top to bottom – head coach to the recruiting department – I have the best connection with them,” Patterson said.

“Far as off the football just talking, I can get along with them the best. Everyone at Rutgers knows me and what I can bring.”

Cincinnati will be getting a visit from Patterson this weekend.

As for midweek, Patterson will visit Kentucky, one of two SEC programs to make his list. Vanderbilt, the other SEC program, will get an official visit on the last weekend of June.

“Their message is that I’m their top guy, the one they want, and I can contribute early,” Patterson said.

“Kentucky is high on my list so I’m looking forward to (seeing) great things from top to bottom.”

Patterson said that there are currently no favorites in his recruitment as he heads towards a decision “in a couple of weeks.”
