James Harden, Sixers to meet over the weekend to negotiate new deal

James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers will meet over the weekend to begin negotiating a new deal.

The Philadelphia 76ers have already made three moves to begin free agency as they brought in P.J. Tucker, Danuel House, and Trevelin Queen on deals. Those were made possible by James Harden opting out of his $47.4 million player option to create financial flexibility for the Sixers.

Now, the Sixers have to begin taking care of Harden in order to keep him in Philadelphia with Joel Embiid in order to contend for a title. The star duo is one of the best in the league and the Sixers want to ensure that they are together to help Philadelphia move forward.

Harden and the Sixers will meet over the weekend to begin negotiations on his deal after free agency opened up on Thursday night at 6 p.m. EDT.

It will be interesting to see how much money Harden is sacrificing here in order for the Sixers to bring in three players in free agency right away. Two of them will be in the rotation with Tucker starting so Harden had to have been sacrificing a good amount in order to replenish the roster.
