James Harden ready for Kyrie Irving’s return: ‘It’s going to be scary hours’

James Harden and Kevin Durant went to work on Saturday, earning a win for the Nets without Kyrie Irving.

James Harden had quite the Nets debut while Kevin Durant led Brooklyn in scoring in their 122-115 win over the Orlando Magic. The pair combined for 72 points on Saturday as Harden finished with a 30-point triple-double.

But as good as the pair looked, the Nets hope to look even better when Kyrie Irving makes his return — something Harden is especially looking forward to.

“Once we go through every scenario — it’s really only maybe four or five that teams can do against us, and throughout the course of the year that’s going to happen,” Harden said on a Zoom call with reporters after Saturday’s win. “Once figure out, OK they’re doing this tonight this how we attack it or they’re doing this tonight this is how we attack it — once we get that, it’s basically up to us.

“I’m so excited for Kai to get back. He’s a key piece to what we’re trying to do. The chemistry, the sooner we can build that, the sooner we can be on the court together, it’s going to be scary hours.”

Brooklyn is back in action on Monday when they face the Milwaukee Bucks.
