James Harden reacts to Sixers adding former teammate DeAndre Jordan

Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden reacts to the addition of former teammate DeAndre Jordan.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers made a savvy move in the buyout market by bringing in former All-Star big man DeAndre Jordan. The 14-year veteran out of Texas A&M has experience playing for coach Doc Rivers while with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he is expected to help in the rebounding department off the bench.

Jordan is not the player he once was, but he can still help the Sixers off the bench for 8-10 minutes a night. A concern is he might struggle against the more athletic big men in the league, but the Sixers will cross that bridge when they get to it.

Jordan played with James Harden with the Brooklyn Nets in the 2020-21 season, and Harden likes what he sees in terms of Jordan joining him with the Sixers.

“I think he fits in well with us,” said Harden. “He’s a vet that’s been on some really good teams, and it feels like he hasn’t accomplished his goal yet as far as winning a championship so he has an opportunity to do it here. The system is pretty easy. Just go out there, rebound the basketball, communicate defensively, and we’ll do a good job of getting him the basketball for some easy dunks, but he has the right mindset.”

Jordan is a lob threat who can take advantage of playing with a guy like Harden in some lineups. It will be interesting to see how Rivers uses him as they move forward with this new roster.
