Jalen Ramsey is thrilled that Cam Akers ‘has been unleashed’

Cam Akers rushed for 171 yards on 29 carries Thursday night, carrying the Rams to a 24-3 win.

Jalen Ramsey and Cam Akers both hail from Florida State, starring for the Seminoles during their college careers. Though they never played together at FSU, they’ve continued to develop their relationship now that they’re on the same NFL team.

After Akers’ breakout game against the Patriots on Thursday night – a game in which he rushed for 171 yards on 29 carries – Ramsey shared a message for him on Twitter. He celebrated the Rams’ 24-3 win, but he couldn’t help but recognize Akers’ emergence.

He’s thrilled to see that the rookie running back has finally been unleashed by the Rams, grabbing hold of the starting tailback spot.

Back in training camp, Ramsey gave Akers his “welcome to the NFL” moment with a big hit in practice, which we never got footage of, unfortunately. But Ramsey has a great deal of respect for the rookie running back, which shows in the way he talks about Akers.

The Rams are fortunate to have both players. They’ve each had a big impact on wins this season, with Akers shining on Thursday night in prime time.
