Jalen Hurts signs megabucks deal days after visiting Lincoln Riley at USC

.@TrojanConquests and @LBCTrojan talked about the value of Jalen Hurts visiting #USC last week. Now that point is even more salient.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts have arrived at a long-term deal.

Eagles Wire has more on the story:

“The Eagles announced on Monday morning that Jalen Hurts and the franchise has agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension through the 2028 season.

“The moves secure Hurts with Philadelphia for the future while allowing GM Howie Roseman to strike first on resetting the quarterback market. Hurts gets a no-trade clause in the deal while freeing up about $2 million in cap space for the Eagles to continue retooling the roster.”

This move by the Eagles comes just four days after Jalen Hurts visited Lincoln Riley on the USC campus. The events aren’t connected in terms of causality, but there is powerful symbolic value to be found in the fact that Hurts got paid on a historic scale right after checking in with Riley, one of his college coaches. It certainly enhances the USC football brand.

Tim Prangley and Rick Anaya discussed this Jalen Hurts visit to Lincoln Riley and USC on their most recent edition of Trojan Conquest Live, which airs Sundays at 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific at The Voice of College Football:
