Jalen Green sets NBA rookie record for made 3-pointers in a month

Rockets guard Jalen Green is developing and improving rapidly as a shooter and scorer, and he now owns the NBA rookie record for made 3-pointers in a month.

In a remarkable month that will almost certainly lead to his first Western Conference Rookie of the Month honor, Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green set a record Wednesday for the most 3-pointers in a single month by any rookie in NBA history. Just 20 years old, Green was the No. 2 overall pick from the first round of the 2021 NBA draft.

Green’s first made 3-pointer versus Sacramento gave him 46 for the month, which topped the prior record. He then added two more before the first quarter concluded, setting a new high-water mark with ease.

In 16 March games entering Wednesday, Green has averaged 20.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 33.3 minutes per game. The 6-foot-6 guard shot 48.4% overall and 39.3% on 3-pointers over that span.

Best of all, Green improved even more as the month progressed. In his last three games entering Wednesday, Green averaged 26.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 33.2 minutes per game on 49.1% shooting and 47.2% from 3-point range. He drilled a combined 17 3-pointers in those games, and it lifted the young Rockets to a productive 2-1 stretch as a team.
