Jaida Thomas leads UT soccer past Wake Forest

Recapping UT’s 2-0 soccer win over Wake Forest Saturday.

University of Tennessee soccer player Jaida Thomas continued her scoring tear Saturday night.

Thomas, a redshirt freshman forward and reigning Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, scored the only goals in Tennessee’s 2-0 victory over Wake Forest at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Both Thomas’ markers against the Demon Deacons (3-6-1) were unassisted.

She gave the Lady Vols (8-4-1) a 1-0 lead when she tallied just before halftime in the 44th minute. She expanded Tennessee’s edge to 2-0 with a goal in the 73rd minute.

The Lady Vols, who went 4-4-1 during the fall while playing an SEC-only schedule, have now opened its spring portion of their schedule with four consecutive wins.

Lady Vols’ goal keeper Lindsey Romig recorded her third clean sheet of the spring semester as she made two saves in Saturday night’s match.

The Demon Deacons and Tennessee both had 10 shots in the match. Two of Wake Forest’s shots were on goal, while Tennessee had five of its shots land on frame.
