Jaguars WR Zay Jones held out of Thursday practice with ankle injury

Zay Jones has been one of Trevor Lawrence’s favorite targets so far this season.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones did not practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, the team announced on its injury report.

Jones, 27, didn’t appear on the report at all Wednesday and has been one of Trevor Lawrence’s favorite targets so far this season. Through three games, he’s been targeted 24 times (second on the team behind Christian Kirk’s 27 targets) and has 19 receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown.

The Thursday addition of Jones to the injury report was the only change from Wednesday, as cornerback Shaquill Griffin was limited again with a hip injury and backup offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen missed another practice due to his hamstring.

The Eagles had a much more streamlined injury report after listing 13 players Wednesday with six players getting rest. On Thursday, those players were back, although receiver A.J. Brown was still out for personal reasons.

The most notable changes are that cornerback Darius Slay and receiver DeVonta Smith returned from their back injuries to practice fully. However, cornerback Avonte Maddox is a new addition with an ankle injury after not appearing on the team’s Wednesday report.
