Former 49ers general manager Trent Baalke is back as the head of an NFL front office. He’s set to be named general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars according to a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Baalke spent 12 years in the 49ers organization beginning in 2005 when he was a regional scout. He eventually worked his way up to VP of player personnel before getting a promotion to GM in 2011. He spent six seasons in that post before getting fired after the 2016 campaign.

Jacksonville hired Baalke before last season as their director of player personnel under general manager Dave Caldwell. Caldwell was fired and Baalke was elevated to GM with an interim title. The club is aiming to remove the interim title now with Urban Meyer representing a new regime in Jacksonville.
