Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday.

Shenault (6-1, 227 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 17 times at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Shenault to Sammy Watkins, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

“He’s a high-end talent, but not a sure thing,” Zierlein wrote of Shenault on NFL.com before the draft. “An exciting ceiling but a lower floor.

During his final two seasons with the Buffaloes, Shenault caught 142 passes for 1,775 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed 42 times for 280 yards and seven touchdowns during his time at Colorado.

Shenault was the eighth-best wide receiver in this year’s class, according to Luke Easterling’s rankings for Draft Wire. The list of players Draft Wire had ranked higher than Shenault included ASU’s Brandon Aiyuk, TCU’s Jalen Reagor and Baylor’s Denzel Mims.
