Jaguars return specialist and WR Jamal Agnew provides update on hip injury

Jags receiver and returner Jamal Agnew says he’s on his way to full strength after a rough hip injury he suffered in November.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and return specialist Jamal Agnew provided arguably the most memorable and electric moment from the 2021 season. He returned an Arizona Cardinals field goal attempt for 103-yards that came up short before halftime. However, in November, he suffered a season-ending hip injury.

Earlier this month, he joined “The Jag Roar Podcast” to discuss his journey in the NFL and how his recovery is coming along.

Agnew said he thankfully didn’t dislocate his hip, but he did suffer some ligament damage to it. He added that the recovery has gone smoothly and that the most difficult challenge is staying off his feet.

“Recovery is mostly just I had to stay off my feet for a while, try not to walk around as hard as that is, I like to move around but try to stay off my feet,” Agnew said. “I did that. It’s just been a lot of strength and core. Glue everything surrounding the hip just getting that stronger. Then going from there, just building a baseline of strength with everything around it just getting back to full strength.”

That’s good news for the Jaguars as Agnew proved to be one of the best special teams players in football and a leader for the team. He also was a sneaky good contributor on offense.

Heading forward Agnew should be one of the key players who helps new coach Doug Pederson establish the right culture in Jacksonville, while also helping Trevor Lawrence lead on the field.
