Jaguars re-sign DT Carl Davis

The Jags will be bringing back veteran DT Carl Davis despite him being suspended the first four weeks of the season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced the re-signing of fifth-year defensive tackle Carl Davis Monday afternoon.

Davis joined the Jags’ roster Week 13 and recorded one tackle in his limited playing time with them. Davis (6-foot-5, 320 pounds) has appeared in 36 games throughout his career, posting 32 tackles with two tackles for loss.

Davis will now join Taven Bryan, Abry Jones, Rodney Gunter, Brian Price, and Dontavius Russell at the defensive tackle position but will have to sit out the team’s first four games due to suspension (substance violation). Even with his signing, the team will surely look to add some pieces in the draft, re-fortifying their once stout line.

While Davis isn’t the big impact, playmaking type of player that fans get excited about, he does provide some much-needed depth on the interior of the defensive line. With the NFL Draft now just three weeks away, Dave Caldwell seems to be trying to plug up some holes which will put him in position to draft the best players available at the top of the draft.
