The Jacksonville Jaguars are releasing defensive lineman Folorunso “Foley” Fatukasi, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Fatukasi, who turned 29 on Monday, signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Jaguars during the 2022 offseason. His deal was restructured last year and will now carry dead cap charges through the 2027 season. By releasing the lineman, Jacksonville will save $3,518,588 in cap space, but eat $9,269,334 in 2024.
In his two seasons with the Jaguars, Fatukasi dealt with a few injuries and was mostly ineffective. While he earned PFF grades above 80 in two of his four seasons with the New York Jets, Fatukasi received a 42.5 grade in his first year with the Jaguars and a 61.0 grade in 2023.
Fatukasi recorded 1.5 sacks and five tackles for loss in his 30 games played with the Jaguars.
Other defensive linemen for the Jaguars include Roy Robertson-Harris, DaVon Hamilton, Adam Gotsis, and 2023 fourth-round pick Tyler Lacy. The team also has pass rushers Josh Allen and Travon Walker, who frequently line up with their hand on the ground.
