With the 9-6 victory, the Jaguars now sit at 2-6 on the season. This team may not be playoff-caliber, but it is improving and will try to close out Year 1 of the new regime on a high note.
The Jags have slowly crept up the power rankings from USA TODAY Sports’ Nate Davis since occupying the bottom rung earlier in the season. Now, Jacksonville has moved up two spots from where it sat last week to No. 27.

The Jags have an opportunity to earn some more wins down the stretch, as Davis noted, and they could see their spot here continue to rise in the coming weeks. For now, they rank above Washington, the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins, the division-rival Houston Texans and the winless Detroit Lions.
With a developing rookie quarterback and a defense that just played its most impressive game in recent memory, the Jaguars have something to build off of moving forward. They’ll hope to carry that momentum into a road division matchup on Sunday against an Indianapolis Colts team that has won three of its last four and sits at No. 20 in the power rankings.
