Former Duke basketball player Jaden Schutt played his first game at Cameron Indoor Stadium in a different jersey on Tuesday evening, contributing three points to an 88-65 Virginia Tech loss.
Schutt, a four-star guard from the Class of 2022, played 14 games for the Blue Devils as a freshman. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in a small role off the bench, playing just 6.9 minutes per game, and 20 of his 28 attempts came from 3-point range.
He redshirted the entire 2023-24 season after undergoing knee surgery to fix a torn meniscus, and he entered the transfer portal this offseason.
Schutt elected to stay within the ACC by choosing Virginia Tech, and he started each of the Hokies’ first 12 games as he settled in to his new school. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals entering the midweek game against Duke, shooting 36.8% from distance, but he went one-for-six against the Blue Devils in 23 minutes.
The former Blue Devil added a rebound and a steal to his final line.
