Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones opened up about why things did not work out with the New England Patriots after a promising start with the team.
Jones made an impact as a rookie last season, playing in 13 games and starting in two of them. He recorded two interceptions, including one for a touchdown. However, this season was a different story for Jones, as he only appeared in five games. He recorded a pass deflection and 12 tackles.
Injuries took a toll on Jones’ body, but there were also the off-the-field issues that hampered him and led to reduced playing time. He opened up a bit about his time in New England, saying he was hurt by the release. as transcribed by ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.
“I would say it wasn’t the best fit. I can’t really speak too much about it, just because I’m not on the coaching staff,” said Jones. “I can’t call it. Just wasn’t the best fit, but I’m glad to be here.
“…Oh yeah [it hurt], for sure, for sure. I mean, that was the team that drafted me, that gave me an opportunity. When you get drafted, it’s your mindset you’re going to spend the next four years there, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I’m blessed to be here now.”

The Raiders may be a better fit for Jones, most notably with him getting a chance to work with his old high school coach, Antonio Pierce. From the New England side of things, this is yet another failed pick from a disappointing 2022 draft class.
