Jabari Smith named SEC Freshman of the Week yet again

We all knew this was coming. Jabari Smith once again takes home weekly SEC honors.

For the sixth time this season Jabari Smith was honored by the SEC, this time he was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday. It is his fifth time winning the award this season.

Smith is playing his best basketball of the season right now and was dominant in the wins over Mississippi State and South Carolina to secure the outright SEC regular-season championship. He averaged 24.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in the two games.

He showcased his elite shot-making ability in the win over the Bulldogs, scoring 27 points and shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. He also made three of his five 3-point attempts and grabbed 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.

In what was surely his final home game at Auburn, Smith led Auburn to a win over South Carolina that clinched Auburn’s outright regular-season championship. He scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds. It marked his 26th game in double digits and 13th 20-point outing.
