Jabari Smith named SEC Freshman of the Week

Jabari Smith is on a roll right now.

Jabari Smith is flashing his NBA potential early with the Auburn Tigers.

Smith earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after leading the Tigers to a 2-1 record in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, according to the Southeastern Conference. Smith averaged 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game against No. 22 UConn, Loyola Chicago, and Syracuse.

Smith scored 22 points against both UConn and Syracuse, the second and third 20-point outings of his young career with the Tigers. He also went a career-best 12-for-12 from the free-throw line versus UConn shooting 93.3 percent from the charity stripe for the week, while also knocking down six 3-pointers.

Auburn’s offensive efficiency has shot through the roof (112.4 adj. efficiency, 16th nationally according to KenPom) this season and part of it has to do with the way Jabari Smith has played for the Tigers.
