Ja Morant offered to replace a kid’s Stephen Curry jersey with his own

Ja Morant just earned a new lifelong fan.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is arguably the most exciting young player in the NBA and he is earning new fans all around the world.

Morant continues to impress both on and off the floor, whether it’s with his high-flying dunks and ridiculous athleticism or his remarkable poise when talking about the way he sees the game.

After leading the Grizzlies to defeat the Warriors to secure a ten-game winning streak, which is a new record for the franchise, Morant said he was greeted by a young fan.

As noted by Molly Morrison, however, the kid was wearing the wrong team apparel. Even though the game was in Memphis, the fan was actually rocking a Stephen Curry jersey.

Morant, especially playing in his home arena, wasn’t just going to let that fly.

Although he mean-mugged him during the game, according to Jessica Benson, Morant said that he was more than willing to help the kid out. (Via ESPN Memphis):

“It’s funny, Ja Morant is doing his postgame press conference right now. He was talking about a little kid who came up to him in a Stephen Curry jersey, trying to give him a high-five after the game. He said he had no mercy for him but to get his contact information after the game and he’ll get him a Ja Morant jersey.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that a pro athlete took offense to a fan wearing the wrong jersey.

A few years ago, Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence snubbed a kid who was asking for an autograph because the child was wearing a Saquon Barkley jersey.

Unlike Lawrence, however, Morant didn’t ignore the kid. He offered to rectify the problem and probably earned a fan for the rest of his life in the process.
