NBA 2k has always gotten pretty creative with some of the covers for their annual game. They have all these different editions people can buy and it’s pretty cool.
For example, there’s a WNBA edition featuring Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi this year. They’ve got the championship edition with Michael Jordan on it. They even had a Rui Hachimura Japanese cover, which was pretty awesome.
But they’ve never had a non-athlete on the cover — at least, not until now.
J Cole is the latest cover star for NBA 2k23 coming in with his own “Dreamer Edition.” NBA 2k announced the cover on Thursday with a look at it featuring J Cole chilling on a court up in the clouds somewhere.

That’s pretty sick, man. This looks great. If my PS5 wasn’t the digital edition, I’d probably get this.
I guess Cole technically is an athlete — he did play professionally in a Canadian league this year. But, come on. He’s a rapper, y’all. And it’s just really cool seeing a rapper on the cover of a basketball game.
Fans absolutely ate this up.
