A walk-off home run by Ivy Davis helped Tennessee claim a 4-3 victory over LSU.
The win came in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday and salvaged a split for the day.
Davis, a senior shortstop, hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the No. 22 Lady Vols over No. 12 LSU after Tennessee came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision in the Southeastern Conference opener for both schools earlier in the day.
Tennessee (18-2, 1-1 SEC) scored first in the second game as Chelsea Seggern clubbed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning.
The Tigers (14-7, 1-1) responded with a run in the top of the third when Taylor Tidwell came home as Aliyah Andrews reached on an error.
LSU pulled even when Andrews had an RBI triple in the fifth. She later scored for the Tigers to make it 3-2.
Cailin Hannon had an RBI groundout in the bottom of the frame to tie the game and set the stage for Davis’ walk-off blast.
Ashley Rogers, who was one of three Lady Vols’ pitchers to appear in the game, hurled a scoreless seventh after Callie Turner and Samantha Bender also pitched.
Rogers (9-2) had a day of mixed results as she took a tough loss in Saturday’s opener against the Tigers that also went eight innings.
Rogers was tagged with the loss despite throwing a complete game and posting 11 strikeouts. She gave up two runs (one earned) and four hits in the game against LSU, which took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the fifth.
Tennessee tied things in the sixth when Hannon clubbed a solo home run before the Tigers plated the eventual winning run when Taylor Pleasnats homered in the top of the eighth.
