There are so many things we’ve learned from The Last Dance — which is coming to its conclusion with episode 9 and 10 on Sunday — from Michael Jordan being emotional about why he was so hard on teammates to the fact that he likes to laugh at opponents who talk smack about their decades-ago matchups now.
But the biggest takeaway I have from Sunday’s slate of eps is still sticking with me: we need a making-of Space Jam documentary like yesterday.
Specifically, there’s footage from behind the scenes of the “Jordan Dome,” in which some All-Stars and future Hall of Famers — Reggie Miller, Dennis Rodman, Juwan Howard and Patrick Ewing were among them — played with Jordan in between the legend filming the 1996 flick.
And we need even more than we got from the eighth episode of The Last Dance, which was GOLD:
Never forget “Space Jam” was a front for Michael Jordan to scout his NBA rivals. #TheLastDance pic.twitter.com/mB7jY6c3Nd

Incredible. Jordan used that time to scout his future opponents!! And apparently, those games were epic. There’s got to be more footage of them, right?
So we need more! And yes, I’m aware we’ve seen articles and stories from that time, like this Los Angeles Times feature with stories from former UCLA star Kris Johnson, or this Slam oral history with quotes like this from Tim Hardaway:
If you were there, you were there to play. You weren’t there to just BS around. There was (expletive) talking up in your face, good defense. It was very, very, very competitive. You didn’t want to lose. It was all about bragging rights… You came with your best. You were there to bust people’s ass and show them, this is the way it’s going to be all season long when I play against you. You wanted to put something in people’s minds. Like, every time I play against you, this is the way it’s going to be.
SERIOUSLY! Get all of these dudes on camera so they can tell these stories in documentary form. We’ve gotten our taste from The Last Dance. We need more Michael Jordan content, and focusing on those epic games — with commentary on the footage about what’s going on — inside the Jordan Dome are the perfect next step.
