From potentially having two five-stars to none — in a flash.
That’s where Michigan basketball sits on Tuesday morning, highly anticipating the commitment of five-star shooting guard Joshua Christopher on Monday only to be passed over in favor of Arizona State. At least it seemed that the Wolverines still had another five-star in Isaiah Todd.
Not so fast.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Jason Jordan, Todd has informed him that he is reneging on his verbal commitment and has decided that he will use his one-and-done year to play overseas in lieu of suiting up in Ann Arbor. It’s contra to what some insiders had recently heard, as his head coach apparently insisted he would still sign with Michigan.

“Other than this, I’m not gonna do interviews about this right now,” Todd said. “I know some people won’t understand it, but this is the decision I’ve made. I love Coach Howard and I love Michigan, but I feel like this was the best decision for me.”
In just over 12 hours of time, Michigan basketball fans were excited about the prospects of having a high-flying class. While the 2020 class is still tops in the Big Ten with Hunter Dickinson, Terrance Williams and Jace Howard committed and Zeb Jackson signed, it doesn’t look quite as promising as it did this time on Monday.
Michigan now has two open scholarships available with David DeJulius and Colin Castleton electing to transfer.
