Isaiah Bond shines in Longhorns blowout win over UTSA

Against UTSA, Bond was a human highlight reel in the Longhorns’ latest blowout win

Entering the 2024 campaign, expectations were high for Isaiah Bond as he started his Longhorns career. After a slow start, he had his first big game of the season on Saturday. Against UTSA, Bond was a human highlight reel in the Longhorns’ latest blowout win.

Against the Roadrunners secondary, Bond hauled in a team-high five catches for 103 receiving yards. He averaged 20.6 yards a catch and found the end zone twice. His impressive performance not only led Texas to a win but also marked the first time this season that Bond recorded more than 100 yards in a game.

With three games in the books, the Alabama transfer has 13 receptions for 215 yards. He is also tied for the team lead in touchdown catches with three, all of which have come in his last two games. That is the type of impact the Longhorns were expecting him to make when they added him from the transfer portal.

One of the reasons Texas targeted the Georgia native was his speed. On Saturday, he showed that he can break away from defenders with ease and consistently extend plays. That has helped make life easier for Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning this season.

As the season continues, Bond will be a player to watch. He has shown he can be a vocal part of the offense and do damage regardless of who is under center. Saturday provided a glimpse of just how good Bond can be.
