Is Jonathon Brooks playing today? Injury updates for the Panthers RB in Week 10

Will Panthers rookie RB Jonathon Brooks finally make his NFL debut today?

Despite a bit of optimism, Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks will not make his NFL debut this morning.

According to Sara Walsh of the NFL Network, Brooks is not going to play in the team’s Week 10 matchup against the New York Giants. The rookie was officially activated to the 53-man roster on Wednesday.

Head coach Dave Canales provided a bit of hope for the debut following Friday’s practice.

“They’re a possibility,” Canales told reporters of Brooks and outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum. “They looked good all week. So they’re makin’ the decision pretty hard on us with their availability and knowing that those are two really good players that can help us. So, we’ll make that decision in the next couple days.”

Brooks tore the ACL in his right knee while still playing for the University of Texas Longhorns last November. Although he did expect to be healthy by training camp, the 46th overall selection remained sidelined throughout the offseason and began the regular season on the reserve/non-football injury list.
