Is Chase Young the Giants’ dream draft target?

The New York Giants need an edge rusher going into 2020 and that makes Chase Young their dream target, according to Bleacher Report.

Once the New York Giants dropped to No. 4 in the 2020 NFL Draft pecking order by winning their fourth game in 2019, their dream of selecting Ohio State EDGE rusher Chase Young went poof.

But that dream may not be completely dead. The three spots in front of the Giants are still very fluid, and this is a draft that has a to of quarterback talent. There will be teams looking to trade up to grab one of those QBs and that will obviously change the landscape of the draft.

That could be good new for the Giants in several ways. If teams move up in front of them to take a quarterback, it could land Yong right in their laps at No. 4.

And Bleacher Report believes Young would be the Giants’ dream target.

The New York Giants might’ve played themselves out of the Chase Young race, which would be a shame considering the team reportedly attempted to trade back up last year for edge-rusher Josh Allen, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Giants managed just 36 sacks last year, with soon-to-be free agent Markus Golden gobbling up 10 of those.

New York brass would probably love to get this year’s Nick Bosa at No. 4, but it’s easy to envision either Washington or Detroit making Young the pick. If the Giants somehow stumble onto him anyway, it’d earn one of the most overwhelmingly positive draft grades in years.

Cincinnati has the top pick and they are almost certain to take LSU’s Joe Burrow, the Heisman Trophy and National Championship MVP. At No. 2, the Washington Redskins are said to be keen on Young, but their roster is in rough shape and a trade offering a bevy of high picks from a team trading up looking for a quarterback could force them out of the two spot.

Detroit selects third and if they somehow find a suitor for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, they’ll also be looking for a quarterback. Also, if they can’t get a decent package for Pro Bowl corner Darius Slay, they could be looking to trade out of this spot to accumulate picks. The bad news is that GM Bob Quinn is not likely to let Young slide if he’s there for the taking.
