The Alabama Crimson Tide leads the Auburn Tigers 31– 27 at the half in a matchup that has been as close and intense as we imagined it would be. Both Alabama and Auburn have been able to move the ball downfield, as well as make big plays defensively.

Offensively, Mac Jones has had moments where he’s struggled, but he’s also been able to make good plays, and move the ball downfield which is exactly what they needed him to do. Jones was able to go 14/19 for 138 yards, 2 TDs, and an INT in the first half.

After a rocky first quarter that held Alabama to a 43 yard field goal by Joseph Bulovas, the Crimson Tide was able to rebound for a much better second quarter. Although Jones threw a interception that was returned for a pick-six, he was also able to lead the Tide down the field three times to score three touchdowns. Alabama has also relied heavily on Najee Harris to run the ball, as so far, he has racked up 97 rushing yards and a TD.

Defensively, Alabama has done a good job shutting down the running game, but still needs to adjust shutting down the quick passes up the middle, and not allowing busted coverage in the secondary. Alabama has held Bo Nix to only go 10/20 for 145 yards passing, a passing TD, and a 7 yard rushing TD. Auburn has also been held to 68 yards total rushing.

As for special teams for the Crimson Tide, nothing outshines Jaylen Waddles’s 98 yard kickoff return that was a much needed momentum boost for Alabama.

Alabama will need to start the second half with the same energy and momentum as they’ve been playing with, as they will start with the ball in the second half.  It will be interesting to see what adjustments Steve Sarkisian makes to help the Alabama Crimson Tide continue moving down the field, and what defensive adjustments will be made to ensure no more big plays are made by the Tigers.
