Iowa Hawkeyes offer Pennsylvania’s Gatorade Player of the Year

Iowa offered Pennsylvania’s Gatorade Player of the Year, four-star, class of 2025 quarterback Stone Saunders.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are the latest Power 5 program to enter the Pennsylvania sweepstakes. Iowa offered four-star quarterback Stone Saunders out of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pa.

The 6-foot-2, 210 pound signal-caller was the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Pennsylvania this past season after passing for 54 touchdowns and 3,583 yards. He completed 68.7% of his passes (195-of-284) and was intercepted just five times.

Saunders was also recognized as Pennsylvania’s MaxPreps Player of the Year, becoming just the second all-time sophomore to be honored in the state’s history. He led the Crusaders to their second state title and the program’s first state championship since 1995, topping Aliquippa High School, 41-18. Saunders threw five touchdown passes in the title-game victory.

Per Rivals, Saunders is a four-star prospect, the nation’s No. 145 player overall, the No. 14 quarterback and the No. 4 player from Pennsylvania in the 2025 class. ESPN ranks Saunders inside its Junior 300 Rankings, rating the quarterback as the 203rd player overall in the 2025 class. ESPN also regards Saunders as a four-star recruit and as the No. 12 quarterback and No. 6 player from Pennsylvania.

Both 247Sports and On3 list Saunders as a three-star product. 247Sports ranks Saunders as the No. 24 quarterback in the 2025 class, while On3 places him as the 28th signal-caller in the cycle. Both 247Sports and On3 rate Saunders as Pennsylvania’s No. 7 player.

In the 247Sports composite rankings, Saunders checks in as the No. 259 player nationally, as the No. 19 quarterback and as the No. 7 player from Pennsylvania.
