Oklahoma has remained true to Brent Venables’ commitment to making sure the best players in Oklahoma don’t leave the state. Well, at the very least they are trying.
While the number one player in Luke Hasz was at one point a Sooners commit, he’s now heading to the Arkansas Razorbacks. That hasn’t stopped Oklahoma who is knee-deep in multiple recruiting battles for three of the remaining top five prospects in the state per 247Sports.
That list of recruiting battles just got a bit longer as the Sooners sent an offer to four-star wide receiver Cole Adams out of Owasso, Oklahoma. Adams is rated as the fifth-best player in the state.
He’s a dynamic player for his high school team. He’s not the biggest but with the ball in his hands, Adams finds ways to make plays as a runner on jet sweeps or catching the ball as a receiver. Adams fits perfectly in a slot role or he can play outside where his film shows him winning vertically multiple times. He even shows a willingness to block, which is about as an unselfish a play a wide receiver can make on the football field.
With Ashton Cozart’s flip from Oklahoma to Oregon, it only made sense the Sooners would add another wide receiver target to their board. Oklahoma will look to play catchup in the race for Adams and use the summer to make up some ground now that an official offer is out there
