Instant Analysis: Still-undefeated LSU softball hands Ole Miss a shutout in series opener

LSU remains the lone unbeaten team in Division I with a 3-0 win on Saturday.

While the bats were a bit cold in Saturday’s series opener against Ole Miss, the pitching came through for the LSU softball team at Tiger Park.

The Tigers won 3-0 thanks to a complete game shutout from [autotag]Kelley Lynch[/autotag], who gave up just two hits, and now they’re 24-0 and one win away from tying the best start in program history.

LSU stole a run early in this game when a fielding error in the bottom of the first netted a run, but the game remained at a one-run margin until the sixth inning.

[autotag]Sierra Daniel[/autotag] gave the Tigers some insurance with a sacrifice groundout, and they scored a third run on a [autotag]Ciara Briggs[/autotag] single.

Lynch allowed one of her two hits in the seventh inning, but a double-play ended the game as the Tigers kept their perfect record intact.

They’ll look to keep it that way as they go for a series-clinching win over the Rebels on Sunday at 4:30 CT.
