Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was injured early in the Miami Dolphins Week 2 matchup, and home-opener, against the Buffalo Bills.
Tagovailoa received little help from the offensive line, being sacked three times in the first two possessions for Miami. The final sack from Buffalo’s AJ Epenesa drove Tagovailoa into the ground and he appeared to land right on his ribs.
The Dolphins second-year quarterback remained on the ground for a few minutes before getting up and walking on his own to the sideline. It was there when a cart picked him up to take him to the locker room for evaluation.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Tagovailoa’s injury is not severe. X-rays came back negative, and he is just suffering from bruised ribs.
He is listed as questionable to return to the game, but it does not seem likely, since they will be giving him an MRI tomorrow and he is still in a great deal of pain.
