Previous coverage:
Buffalo Bills first-round rookie cornerback Kaiir Elam is being evaluated for a head injury, the team has announced. Elam was dinged up in the Bills’ preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
The injury occurred late in the second quarter as the Colts took a 10-7 lead on a touchdown pass from quarterback Nick Foles. On the play, Elam was covering receiver Ty’Son Williams as he came out of the backfield.
But Elam was crossing the middle of the Bills defense and ran into a group of other players including fellow Buffalo rookie Terrel Bernard. The linebacker was covering a receiver of his own and was not facing Elam.
Due to the nature of the preseason, it’s unlikely that Elam would return to the field regardless of analysis of the medical team.
