Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (30-33) are in the nation’s capital Monday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off with the Washington Wizards (29-35) at Capital One Arena. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Indiana bounced back from back-to-back losses to crush the tanking Oklahoma City Thunder 152-95 Saturday. The Pacers are 4-3 straight up and 3-4 against the spread over the past two weeks.

Washington lost a 125-124 heartbreaker at the Dallas Mavericks Saturday following two straight wins. They covered the spread as 3.5-point underdogs against the Mavs for a third consecutive ATS win. The Wizards won and covered eight of their last 10 games.

The Wizards took down the Pacers 132-124 in their first meeting of the season (March 29). Prior to that game, Indiana won and covered five of its previous six games with Washington.

The 9-seed Pacers are 1.5 games in front of the Wizards and both are chasing the eighth-place Charlotte Hornets because the 7- and 8-seeds get two games to clinch a playoff berth via the postseason play-in tournament.

Pacers at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 126, Pacers 116

Money line (ML)

PASS because I “like” Washington to cover but the Wizards (-150) are just too pricey for an outright victory.

Against the spread (ATS)

BET the WIZARDS -3 (-110) for 1 unit because they are one of the hotter teams in the Association and the Pacers have several contributors either out of the lineup or compromised by injury.

Furthermore, Washington scores the sixth-most points in the paint per game while Indiana gives up the second-most paint points per game and has a banged-up frontcourt.

Also, Wizards PG Russell Westbrook‘s uptick in production and performance has helped propel the Wizards on their current playoff push and he lights up Brogdon in their head-to-head history.

Westbrook and Brogdon have played each other six times and Westbrook averaged 24.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game in those meetings while Brogdon put up 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 245.5 (-105) for a half unit because both teams play an uptempo style but neither is very efficient in the fast-break.

Washington plays at the fastest pace and Indiana is fifth in pace; however, the Wizards are just 24th in fast-break points per game. While the Pacers average the second-most fast-break points per game, Washington’s defense is fourth in fast-break points allowed per game.

Finally, with bookmakers projecting a high-scoring game, scoring could peter out in garbage time if one of the teams goes on a scoring drought for a quarter or the other team gets out to a huge lead.
