Illinois football updates Chase Brown’s status for Michigan game

Well, OK then. #GoBlue

Will Michigan football see a full-strength Illinois team on Saturday, or will it face a depleted Illini squad?

Last week, near the end of the loss to Purdue, Illinois star running back Chase Brown was injured and it appeared as if the would be questionable, or even potentially limited, against the Wolverines in Week 12.

While there’s no telling how limited he may or may not be, it appears that he will play after all, according to ESPN college football analyst Pete Thamel.

Star Illinois tailback Chase Brown is “good to go” Saturday against Michigan, sources told ESPN.

Brown is the nation’s leading rusher with 1,442 yards, averages 5.2 yards per carry and has scored 10 touchdowns this year.

Brown suffered a right leg injury against Purdue last week and was limited in practice on Tuesday and more involved on Wednesday. Sources told ESPN that Brown was “full go” on Thursday and Friday and is healthy for the Illini’s game at No. 3 Michigan.

While Michigan faced brown before, in 2018 when he played for Western Michigan, he’s a much different player now than he was then. Should the Wolverines stall or stop him, it would be a huge indicator that the maize and blue may have similar success next week against Ohio State.

Though Brown is the nation’s leading rusher in terms of total yards allowed, the Wolverines are first in yards-per-game allowed on the ground, and second in total rushing yards allowed.
