Ian Jackson signs letter of intent to UNC basketball

UNC basketball commit Ian Jackson signed his letter of intent on Saturday afternoon in a special ceremony.

It’s official.

After months of speculation surrounding Rick Pitino and the St. John’s program, almost all of it on social media, five-star recruit Ian Jackson has signed his letter of intent. Jackson signed the letter to the UNC basketball program during a ceremony at his high school on Saturday afternoon.

With Jackson signing the letter of intent during the early signing period, it puts an end to all of those social media rumors for now. Jackson is also the final recruit to sign their letter of intent for the 2024 class, joining five-star forward Drake Powell and four-star center James Brown who signed earlier in the week.

Jackson committed to North Carolina earlier in 2023, becoming the fourth prospect to do so. However, Elliot Cadeau reclassified to the 2023 class, giving the Tar Heels three commits for 2024.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound Jackson is a New York native who is ranked among the top prospects in the country. He’s ranked No. 10 overall, the No. 4 shooting guard, and No. 2 player in the state of New York per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
