Husker volleyball defeats Michigan State in four sets

The Huskers returned home following a four-game road stretch to battle Michigan State for the second time in a week.

The Huskers returned home following a four-game road stretch to battle Michigan State for the second time in a week. Nebraska once again took down the Spartans in four sets, pushing its record to 16-0.

The Huskers dominated each set they won. Michigan State took the third set by taking the lead over Nebraska and fending it off up until the set point. Nebraska, however, held Spartans to just 31 kills off 134 attacks and an attack percentage of .097 in the match. The Huskers, meanwhile, finished the match with 57 kills off 129 attacks and an attack percentage of .302.

Merritt Beason and freshman Andi Jackson led Nebraska on offense, combining for 26 kills off 47 attacks. Beason delivered another 10-plus kill performance, putting up 13 kills off 26 attacks. Jackson finished with a career night, bringing in a season-high 13 kills off 21 attacks and leading the team in blocks with six.

Bergen Reilly continued her freshman year by racking up 38 assists and a season-high 16 digs. Reilly accompanied Lexi Rodriguez in leading the team in digs, with Rodriguez obtaining 16 digs as well.

Nebraska will remain home to square off against No. 13 Penn State on Saturday night. The match is set for 7 p.m. and can be viewed on Big Ten Network.
