Hubert Davis makes history with win on Friday

UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis made some history on Friday night in the team’s win over No. 4 UCLA.

Friday night was a special one in Philadelphia for the UNC basketball program. After beating No. 4 UCLA, the Tar Heels punched their ticket to the Elite 8 for the first time since 2017.

In doing so, head coach [autotag]Hubert Davis[/autotag] made some history.

Davis became the first D-I head coach in the last 20 years to make it to an Elite Eight in his first season, an impressive feat for the team especially when they were on the bubble back in February. The Tar Heels have had an up-and-down season including blowout losses to Purdue, Tennessee, Kentucky, Wake Forest, and Miami.

But they didn’t just give up. Instead, they fought, and here they are in the Elite 8.

Davis has done a wonderful job with the Tar Heels in his first season, putting them in a position to return to the Final Four for the first time since that 2017 season. The Tar Heels can’t look ahead too far though as Saint Peter’s will provide a tough task on Sunday.
