The wait for Wisconsin Badgers football is almost over. The team will launch their 2024 campaign on Friday night at home against Western Michigan.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT, 9 p.m. ET at Camp Randall Stadium as year two of the Luke Fickell era gets underway.
The Badgers will be looking to win their third straight season opener, operating with a new quarterback in Tyler Van Dyke, who transferred from Miami in the offseason. Additionally, amongst their haul of transfers in the portal, they brought in edge rusher John Pius (William & Mary) and interior linebacker Jaheim Thomas (Arkansas), who figure to be significant assets in 2024.
It’s not all new faces in Madison this season though. Running back Chez Mellusi is back for his final year of eligibility while leading receiver Will Pauling is also among the returning offensive personnel. On the defensive side of the ball, leading tackler safety Hunter Wohler is back and cornerback Ricardo Hallman will be patrolling the secondary after snatching seven interceptions in 2023.
