Wouldn’t you know it. It’s the first start for Texas Longhorns backup QB Arch Manning and the game against UL Monroe isn’t on TV. It’s on streaming only.
Last week, Manning replaced Quinn Ewers after a 2nd quarter oblique injury against UTSA and accounted for five touchdowns. Now, the celebrity red shirt freshman will start in place of Ewers, who continues to recover from his strained ab.
Manning’s performance against the Roadrunners was all any of the big named commentators were talking about this week. Paul Finebaum said Manning would definitely win the Heisman at Texas, Joel Klatt pointed out that having two great QBs is a ‘win-win’ for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and Stephen A. Smith mocked at the notion of a ‘quarterback controversy.’
If Ewers injury lingers for a few weeks, there is one scenario where Manning unseats the junior from Southlake completely.
Either way, you’ll need internet to watch Saturday night’s game.
