Oklahoma’s big test is early in the season and it is here.

The Sooners are in Houston for the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. Skip Johnson and his 2020 club are set to take on two top-25 ranked teams and one other in three games in three days over the weekend.

No. 15/23 ranked Oklahoma (7-2) will get its toughest game out of the way first against No. 6/9 ranked Arkansas. The two played a 14-inning game in the fall that saw a different pitcher for each squad in every inning and Oklahoma coming out victorious 4-3.

The Sooners are off to a hot start to the 2020 season. Oklahoma’s pitching staff has lived up to the hype through the first nine games, posting a staff 2.51 ERA, striking out 100 batters in 79 innings and holding hitters to a .193 batting average. Led by Tanner Tredaway’s .405 batting average and .811 slugging percentage, Johnson’s lineup has boasted five hitters hitting over .330 that have played in at least five games and has already stolen more than half (15) of the 29 bases they stole a year ago.
