The pursuit of a dream season begins today for the Longhorns.
After Texas shockingly fell to Abilene Christian in the first round of the 2020 NCAA Tournament, the program decided to part ways with Shaka Smart and bring in former Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard.
Beard made it clear in his introductory press conference that he wanted to build a team that could compete for a championship right away. He proceeded to land several of the nation’s top transfer players in the country, and now has Texas ranked No. 5 in the preseason polls.
It’s time to see how well this newly-built roster can play together.
Texas will host the Houston Baptist Huskies for the first game of the season on Tuesday. The Huskies finished 10th in the Southland conference last year, and should pose no threat to the Longhorns.
